Job Summary
We are seeking a Project Manager to join our team! You will be working onsite with the client as a Business Process consultant. The ideal candidate has strong business process experience, a strong understanding of PMI PMBOK latest edition, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. The role of the PM is to plan small to major IT projects and manage a team composed of client subject matter experts, IT staff, and/or contractors, including:
- Implementation of new IT systems or software
- Definition and implementation of automated interfaces between existing IT systems
- Software upgrade or hardware deployment projects
- Continuous upgrade and enhancement of existing applications
The PM directs and manages work of team members to meet projects goals within scope, budget, and schedule. The PM ensures team members adhere to client policies governing telephone, internet and email, change management, documentation, maintenance, privacy and security, testing, training, disaster recovery, and data for all work performed.
Responsibilities
- Assist customer areas in articulating requests for new systems
- Plan and/or manage new projects
- Plan, coordinate and/or attend project meetings
- Supervise the project team to accomplish project objectives
- Define project scope, manage stakeholder expectations
- Assign work tasks collaboratively to the project team and monitor their progress
- Keep the project on track in terms of tasks, schedule, and budget
- Identify and address any issues or risks proactively
- Develop and maintain a project management plan for all assigned projects
- Develop and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) on assigned project activities
- Manage a collaborative workspace including shared drives for the project
- Organize project documents/artifacts in the workspace and/or designated shared drives
- Prepare monthly project status report
- Manage change control, issues escalation and resolution per the project management plan
- Review project deliverables for completeness and adherence to standards and requirements
- Work closely with functional managers to resolve team members’ workload conflicts
- Ensure appropriate product-related training and documentation are developed and available
- Manage validation of functional requirements
- Manage the development of systems documentation
- Ensure that all deliverables identified in the approved project plan are completed
- Provide accurate and timely reporting on the project’s status and progress
- Conduct lessons learned sessions
- Construct, update, and/or supervise the creation of any project artifacts.
- Support the client prepare and publish procurement solicitations with no participation in bids
- Implement organizational change management
- Create and manage updating the Risk Management Plan (RMP) and Risk Registry
- Develop, document, implement escalation and resolution processes for the project
- Ensure Project team members store and organize project documents in a central repository
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skills Requirements
- 7+ years of relevant and current experience as IT Project Manager
- Familiarity with Agile System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Project or other industry-standard tools
- Proficiency with MS Project System Administration
- Most recent edition of the PMI’s Project Management Body of Knowledge Guide
- Experience working with state and local government clients is a plus
- Experience with state transportation sector is highly desired
- Must be able to commute and work onsite in Baltimore
Degree/Certification Requirements
- Bachelor or higher degree
- PMP Certificate (Required)
- ITIL Certificate (Desired)
Security Requirements
- Must be willing to submit and complete successfully a criminal background investigation (Mandatory)
- Current and active security clearance is a plus (Public Trust or higher)
Compensation: $94,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
